Top individual scores in men’s Twenty20 cricket, complete list: The Indian record held by Shreyas Iyer is broken by Tilak Varma.
Yesterday (November 23), Tilak Varma set a new record for the highest score by an Indian hitter in men’s Twenty20 cricket by smashing 151 in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
In the format, Tilak maintained his fiery form. Tilak scored 151 off 67 while leading Hyderabad in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 opening match against Meghalaya. The century was Tilak’s third
consecutive century for India, who had already scored two in a row during their most recent series against South Africa. In the format, he was the first player to accomplish the feat. Arriving at number
three, Tilak hit at 225.37, hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes before being removed from the final ball of Hyderabad’s innings, which concluded with 248-4, the fifth-highest total in tournament history.
The southpaw batsman became the first Indian male cricketer to reach 150 in T20s during the scorching knock, surpassing Shreyas Iyer’s 147 for Mumbai against Sikkim in SMAT 2019. In the 2022 Senior
Women’s T20 Trophy, Kiran Navgire, who currently plays for Maharashtra, had earlier scored 162 for Nagaland against Arunachal Pradesh. The only player to appear on this list twice is Iyer. Iyer, who was
captain of Mumbai, struck an incredible 130 not out in his team’s 26-run victory over Goa on the same day that Tilak accomplished the feat. In men’s T20 cricket, Iyer’s knock is now the seventh-highest by an Indian.
